Is Global Merchant Services part of Global Payments?
Summary
Nothing on either company's website links them. Global Merchant Services sells terminals and processing to businesses in the U.S. and Canada, while Global Payments is a Fortune 500 processor whose footer names its sponsor banks, and Global Merchant Services publishes neither a rate nor a sponsor bank.
Two companies, one search term
Global Payments Inc. runs globalpayments.com. It describes itself as a Fortune 500 company working in more than 100 countries, with 73 billion transactions a year and 5 million merchant accounts. Its footer says Global Payments Direct, Inc. is a registered ISO of PNC Bank, N.A., and that Heartland Payment Systems, LLC is a registered ISO of PNC Bank and Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas.
Global Merchant Services runs globalmerchantservices.com and says it provides "customized payment processing solutions for businesses all across the USA and Canada." None of its pages carry a registered-ISO line or a bank name in a disclosure. Names like Chase, Wells Fargo, Elavon, Fiserv, and TSYS show up only in image captions and hashtags, alongside the phrase "Global Payment Processing," which helps explain why the two companies land in the same search results.
What Global Merchant Services sells
The product menu covers:
- credit and debit card processing, with a virtual terminal and batch upload included with every payment gateway account
- check guarantee, gift and loyalty cards, and EBT
- merchant cash advances, advertised on its blog at up to $500,000
- terminals from three families: the PAX A920 (5-inch screen, 4G and Wi-Fi, built-in printer), the Poynt (7-inch merchant screen and 4.3-inch customer screen), and four Clover models
No terminal has a listed price.
What it does not publish
There is no rate, pricing model, monthly fee, contract length, or funding schedule on any page we could read, and the site has no pricing or FAQ page. The company overview page returned a JavaScript check instead of text. Sales runs by phone, weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, and the site gives no street address.
If you arrived here looking for what foreign-issued cards cost to accept, the company name is a red herring. Global Merchant Services says nothing about international cards or foreign-currency payouts, and our international card fees article compares the published surcharges from the major processors.
