What changes the cost? A $10,000 example
Illustrative US loan, monthly payments, with the stated interest rate applied to the amount signed for. A deducted fee means you borrow more to receive $10,000.
| Scenario | Monthly | Total repaid | Cost above cash received |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12% interest, 36 months, no fee | $332.14 | $11,957 | $1,957 |
| 12% interest, 36 months, 5% deducted fee | $349.62 | $12,586 | $2,586 |
| 12% interest, 60 months, no fee | $222.44 | $13,347 | $3,347 |
| 15% interest, 36 months, no fee | $346.65 | $12,480 | $2,480 |
Payments are calculated before rounding; totals are rounded to the nearest dollar. A lender's disclosed APR already reflects applicable charges, so do not enter that APR as an interest rate and add its fee again. CFPB: interest rate versus APR.
The amount entered is the cash you want to receive. If a fee is deducted, the amount signed for is grossed up so the amount received stays the same. Use the interest rate before fees in the calculator. The lender table below uses published APRs, which may already include fees.
Compare published lender ranges
Providers are ordered by best-case total repayment for the amount and term above. Use the market and type controls to narrow the list. Published figures were last checked 2026-09-18.
How to compare the lender ranges
Only lenders whose published amount and term ranges cover the inputs appear. The order uses the lowest published APR to estimate repayment on the cash received. The published fee range is shown alongside it but is not added again to an APR. Actual eligibility, fee deduction, monthly payment and total repayment require a personal quote and lender disclosure.
Who this is not for
If you are choosing on approval odds, speed or service, this tool has nothing to say to you. It compares published ranges, and it does not know what any lender will actually offer you.
