Card Processing Fees: Calculate What You Actually Pay
Enter your sales and fee terms to see total processing fees, net proceeds, effective rate and annual cost. Then compare published processor pricing using the same sales assumptions.
Credit card processing fees calculator
Estimate only. Excludes chargebacks, refunds, international fees, tax, hardware and unpublished interchange.
Compare published processor plans with these same sales inputs
27 of the 32 providers here publish a rate our checker could read, and 38 plans carry enough detail for a three-year comparison. Quote-only, starting-rate and incomplete interchange-plus plans are not forced into the ranking.
At $5,000 in monthly card sales, computable US plans range from 2.67% to 10.78% of sales. Use the processor comparison to change volume and average ticket.
How to use this
- Find the provider in the list and read the monthly fee and hardware columns, not just the percentage.
- Put your real card takings into the calculator. A monthly fee spread over a quiet month is what changes the answer.
- Read what the headline rate leaves out before you treat it as a budget.
Where the advertised rate is furthest from the bill
Why the percentage on the poster is not the price
A monthly fee, a terminal and a per-transaction charge are fixed amounts. Spread across a quiet month they are a large share of takings; across a busy one they are almost nothing. That is why every table here is expressed as a share of card sales at a stated volume, and why 5 plans are left out of the ranking altogether: interchange plus a markup cannot be totalled without the interchange, and no provider publishes it.
What this is not
This is not a review site and it is not a quote service. Nothing here is rated, scored or recommended; there are no stars or badges, and we have not used any of these products. Every table is ordered by one computed number and the formula is published in full. No provider has paid to appear here. It is not free of bias either: the editor chose which providers to hold, which rate to compute with and what average sale to assume, and all three choices are written down on the method page so you can disagree with them.
